Insta – property photos

Front of House

I originally posted this in January of 2012 but I think it is truer today than it was when I wrote it.

Happy 2012!  I have been off to a good start except that I have been too busy to write posts on my blog of mass destruction cleverly disguised as a hot dog stand.  Business was so dismal in 2011 that I did not expect to get so busy at the end of the year.

I do not spend much time thinking about the future  but if I did I would think about the future of real estate photography and I can see where it is headed.  The iPhone apps and Instagram are where it is at.  After all it isn’t about the photograph . .lets face it, it has never been about the photography  is it about using something new and if it is a mobile app then it is the app to use.

Living Room

I have not seen many photos like these on our MLS but I am watching for them.  I have also been patiently waiting for someone to announce that there is a class on how to take property photos with a phone and maybe even a certification program.

Since you asked find my instrgams here:  http://followgram.me/tboard/

Yeah…Won’t be long before the Instagram Gurus start setting up eBooks and Seminars on selling real estate. By the way, I’m on instagram now..which makes me a real photographer now. #justsayin

I will have to find you. I love Instagram but the cool kids are going to think I am a know-it-all . . which I am . . . . if I don’t attend the Instagram class.

I use Instagram-style filters for listing photos but not in the MLS, I use them for social media and email newsletters only. I have seen a few in the local MLS (Wilmington, NC) but they actually don’t look as good in the MLS as I would hope. This could be because the people using them use washed-out filters, so I would be interested to see what they look like when a filter is used that improves the photo.
