Stop Thief

If you are a real estate or mortgage blogger please check this site to see if it has any of your content on it:

Looks like there was a problem with some "previous blog hosts"  Gee I hope I didn’t cause any problems. 🙂

If any readers out there are getting the impression that I hate plagerism you are correct.  Vendors are always trying to sell me something.  Here is an idea for a great new product.  Splogs use my feed to draw content off of my blog and populate their own blogs with it.  The RSS feed makes content theft easier that ever before.  I can go into "uncommon uses" in feedburner and see where my content is going.  I would love it if I could just click a button and disconnect the feed.

I could change my feed so that it just feeds an excerpt but I don’t want to.  Feed excerpts are annoying and I will lose subscribers if I go that route.

  1. Bob Carney says:

Break that link back!!! don’t give him any web credit.

  2. Bob he isn’t getting much traffic but I get where you are coming from. I just want the rest of the folks who are being ripped off to know about it.

  3. Love that he’s been busted in VA too! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

  4. He is still at it. taking content form different blogs. I keep chasing him but I don’t have time for this so I am going to escalate things a bit. i hope he reads the weenie. If he does not would be a great time for him to stop taking content.

But T…he is only trying to help!!! (himself)

  6. First off, I have to agree with Bob on this issue, you should consider disconnecting that link. It isn’t so much a matter of traffic, but search engine reputation. Spam blogs are created to came search engines and by linking to him from a legitimate source, you are helping you. You can easily add rel=”nofollow” to the link itself to avoid Google from picking it up.

As far as getting the guys shut down goes, the site is hosted on ThePlanet and you can easily file a DMCA notice with them to get your content removed. If needed, I have some stock letters on my site.

The email address to contact is copyright at theplanet dot com.

It should only take a few moments and it will cause the site to come down in a matter of days usually.

    Hope that this helps!

  7. One more thing. I can’t believe I forgot this.

I see that you’re using TypePad, while it is a great system there have been a lot of plugins created for WordPress that has the kind of functionality that you crave. However, you also have to get away from FeedBurner as they have decided not to help their customers with these matters.

I’ll likely be doing the same myself in a few weeks.

  8. thanks Jonathan. I am going to take your advice. He is not stopping but just stealing from others. Leaving now to grab a “stock” letter, changed the link. 🙂 No time to convert to wordpress.

  9. We feed their IPs to the SpamKarma attack dog.

  10. He’s back peddling now. Gotta live up to all those post promises.
