I wrote this in the fall of 2009 and I never posted it. Maybe I forgot or maybe I decided I did not like the post.
Sometimes social media is used in the most anti social ways, especially twitter which for some is just for broadcasting or auto broadcasting their latest blog post or area real estate information. reading their tweets is like reading an infomercial except most infomercials are more interesting.
The number one use of social media and social networks is to promote the use of social media and social networks and to discuss using social networks and media. (tricky sentence I know but I am a Realtor not a writer)
The number two (LOL number two, second would read better but this is the weenie and it is ok to write number two) use for social media and social networks is to promote the use of social networks and social media and all things web 2.0 for business use. After all networking of any kind would be pointless if not for money making opportunities.
The number three use is to promote a book, seminar or class on the use of social media or social networking.
The most common job people find by using social networks in their job search are jobs for social media managers and other jobs that are the same but have different titles.
In a nut shell and we all know what a nut is, social media and social networks are for discussing social media and social networks. It works the same way with blogs. There are millions of blogs about blogs and zillions of blog posts about the same thing.
The internet is a strange place. I guess that is why I feel so at home here.
